The anthropology department at
Texas A&M uses the campus to
store artifacts they find on under
water digs so they will not deterio
rate.
Helen Dewolf, a graduate assis
tant in the anthropology depart
ment, said they clean and store
many different types of artifacts at
the campus.
"Specifically, we have many ar
tifacts from the sunken city of Port
Royal, Jamaica, which we have
been excavating," Dewolf said.
"The city sunk in 1692."
In the future, the campus will be
getting a new entrance because the
old entrance will be destroyed
with the joining of 1-21 to new In
terstate Highway 47. The new en
trance will be off of 1-47.
Massey said the campus could
have a great future, but he is not
exactly sure what future plans are
for the campus.
"There is a great future for
tilings to grow out there, but there
is also a great potential for the main
campus of A&M too," Massey said.
