Students camp out for A&M-Texas tickets By Mark Smith The Battalion If you happened to walk by G. Rollie White Coliseum yesterday, you might have thought that Texas A&M had been overrun by refugees fleeing some type of regional fighting. The ground in front of the "Holler House" is covered with a tented city, its inhabitants lounging on old sofas and playing Super Nin tendo on portable televisions. These people, however, are not those who cry out in anguish over their stricken home lands. These are the people that let out with a mighty "Whoop!" whenever the Aggies cross the goal line. The lines for tickets to the annual A&M- University of Texas game have already begun. Spectators for the big game began forming on the north side of Kyle Field as early as 2 p.m. Tuesday. "I came out here at two o'clock," said Lee "They told me to come back after the basketball game, so I came back at about nine o'clock." -Lee Kroll, first in line Kroll, Class of '93. "They told me to come back after the basketball game, so I came back at about nine o'clock." Kroll, his wife Ronda, Class of '93, and her cousin, Lara Zuehlke, Class of '97, were the first people in Line 1 for the Thanksgiving Day affair. They spent the night wrapped in blankets and braving the 40 degree weather for their tickets. Others sat around playing dominoes to pass the time. A faded green love seat and a small coffee table served as their playing surface. When asked if a fight would ensue over the love seat, P. J. Whitt, Class of '94, said, "Oh no, that's mine. I unloaded it. I get it." "But it's my couch," Bob Doyle, Class of '94, replied. No matter who gets the couch, it is obvious the ever-burning spirit to beat the hell outta t.u. will keep those on their ticket-vigil outside of G. Rollie warm. AIESEC to raise money for Sarajevo children's hospital By Jan Higginbotham The Battalion One Texas A&M organization is working to raise money for the Children's Hospital in Sarajevo today with a "Sarajevo Day." Tad Davis, president of the Association of International Students in Economics and Commerce (AIESEC) at Texas A&M, said he and the other people involved are hoping to raise student awareness of the problems in Sarajevo. "We want Texas A&M to be aware that this is a continual war and they can do something to help," Davis said. The day's events include a symposium given by Dr. Roger Reese, assistant professor of history, entitled "The Bosnia Crisis: A Histori cal Perspective." After the symposium, AIESEC will hold a reception to explain the Sarajevo fund and discuss ways in which wars, such as the one in former Yugoslavia, can be prevented. Ana Kljuic, a sophomore from Sarajevo, said the event is a good chance to raise awareness. "It's the only thing somebody can do right now," she said. "We can't influence politician's decisions, but we can do something." Kljuic, whose father still lives in Sarajevo, said students need to realize that people their age are starving. The funds raised through today's events will provide electricity, medicine, untainted water and food to the Children's Hospital. AIESEC has been working in conjunction with Off-Campus Ag gies, the Residence Hall Association and Omega Phi Alpha in orga nizing the events. Midnight Yell Practice For those faculty and students plan ning to travel to this week end's Texas Christian Uni» versify - Texas A&M football game, mid night yell practice will be held Friday in Fort Worth at the Billy Bob's Gazebo in the stock- yards.
