Soccer closes out season
Lady Aggies play their last two games in Shreveport tournament

The Lady Aggie soccer team (13-3-1) will finish its in
augural season as an NCAA
scholarship team when they take on Centenary and
Florida Atlantic in Shreveport, Louisiana this weekend.
Head coach Gerald Guerrieri said that barring a total
collapse this weekend, the Lady Aggies season will be
an exceptional success.
"Coming into the season, the coaching staff came in
with modest expectations, and the girls came in with
high expectations," he said. "And in many ways we ex
ceeded both."
Guerrieri said that the key to the Lady Aggies' success was
that the play of senior defender Rennie Rebe, junior midfielder
Brittan Hlista and freshmen midfielders Jamie Csizmadia and
Kim Duda anchored the team's performance.
"Early in the season we wanted to focus on the midfield and
the defense," he said. "And they were the cornerstones in the
building of this team."
With Rebe handling the duties as captain, Guerrieri
said the lone senior on the squad provided great leader
ship for the Lady Aggies. She was the steadying force
for the Lady Aggies, Guerrieri said, but when the team
needed to shut down an opponents' leading scorer he
gave Kristi Dillinger the call.
In what Guerrieri called Texas A&M's "biggest
game," Dillinger shut down Southern Methodist's All-
American forward Kara Lee, as the Lady Aggies tied the
nation's 16th-ranked Lady Mustangs.
"Kristi has been the answer for us against a lot of
teams," Guerrieri said. "She stopped three All-Ameri
cans, and every matchup she has been involved with
she has dominated."
Csizmadia's 13 goals made her a consistent scoring threat for
the Lady Aggies, and in the middle of the season she had a six-
game scoring streak.

Adams named to Lombardi final four

college coaches and national sports
media writers. The award is given
annually to the best offensive or de
fensive lineman in college football.
ESPN analyst Mel Kiper, Jr. con
ducted a press conference via phone
Thursday night and asked Adams
when he knew he could be a domi
nant player for the Aggies.
"The first time 1 stepped on a col
lege campus and then a college foot
ball field, I knew that I would make
an immediate impact," Adams said.
Adams has done just that in his
two and a half seasons at A&M. The
Houston native leads the 10th ranked
Aggies in several defensive categories
this season, including tackles (61),
fumble recoveries (3), fumbles caused
(5), quarterback pressures (9), quar
terback sacks (9.5) and passes deflect
ed (3).
Adams said that he was always ex
posed to football, mostly due to his
father Sam Adams Sr., who played
with the New England Patriots for
several years.
"I've always wanted to play foot
ball and follow in his footsteps,"
Adams said.
"I was brought up in athletics and T
chose football because I have a love
for the game."
Adams said that he is uncertain if
he will enter the National Football
League's draft after this season, but
also said that he still has several
things to correct before he can go to
the next level.
"I know for a fact that I'm going to
have to improve my technique and
calm myself down when 1 play,"
Adams said. "I'm going to have to
weigh my options after the season
and see what is the best choice for
me."
