A 1994 GGIELAND AUSTIN — The manager of a north Dallas pizzeria said Thursday his business was threatened by an employee of the Texas attorney gen eral's office who was upset about a pizza that was not delivered. John Wagner, manager of Carmine's Restaurant, said Texas child support investigator Stephen McKenna barged into the pizzeria more than a half hour after it had closed last Saturday, complaining about a pizza he ordered that was not delivered. Wagner said McKenna demanded a free pizza and intimated that the pizzeria might be found in violation of state regulations or be sued by the state if he didn't get a free pizza. He left a business card and repeatedly said he worked for Texas At torney General Dan Morales, Wagner said. "I felt threatened the whole time/' Wagner said. "He barged in after closing and I didn't know what was going to happen with this guy. To take such a small incident and blow it so far out of proportion, you would have thought the guy ordered $300 worth of pizza." McKenna declined to comment Thursday, saying "it was a personal matter and I'm not at liberty to discuss it." His regional supervisor, Velma Coleman, referred questions to Ron Dusek, spokesman for Morales. "We have 3,600 employees," Dusek said. "There appears to have been a misunderstanding and we are re viewing the situation." Officials from the attorney general's office, including McKenna, met with the owner of the pizzeria, Carlos Pinto, Thursday. Pinto said he was upset after the meeting because McKenna denied Wagner's account of the incident. "I consider this a very serious situation," Pinto said. "When a state official comes in waving his business card around making threatening implications, I am concerned. "This man not only owes me, but every taxpaying citizen in the state an explanation for why he used improper behavior to get a pizza bill waived. What's to say they aren't doing this with their laundry bill or other things?" Wagner said McKenna had ordered a large pizza and gave direc tions to his home three times. But the delivery driver could not locate the residence, Wagner said. The pizzeria closed at 10:30 p.m., but McKenna and an unidentified woman entered the restaurant shortly after 11 p.m. as some employees were walking out the door to go home, Wagner said. Wagner said he offered to make a large pizza for McKenna, but that he would have to pay for it. McKenna objected, Wagner said, and the restaurant employees ulti mately gave him a free pizza. "I thought about calling the police, but finally I decided to just get rid of him and give him the pizza," Wagner said.
