Eagles songs during their club
days."
Outstanding performances to
listen for on "Common Thread"
include the loner's anthem "Des
perado" performed like musical
poetry by Clint Black.
Honky-tonk heartbreaker
Alan Jackson does a soulful ren
dition of "Tequila Sunrise."
And one of the most power
fully creative forces in country
music, Vince Gill, gives a pas
sionate version of "I Can't Tell
You Why."
Other cuts to listen for are Bil
ly Dean's mournful "Saturday
Night" and Lorrie Morgan
putting her heart and soul into
the reflective ballad "Sad Cafe."
The unique vocal talents of
each performer can be heard on
each cut; however, the album
manages to retain the essence of
the Eagles' sound.
The area benefiting from this
project, Walden Woods, is a 2,680
acre tract of land surrounding
Walden Pond that was the inspi
ration for many of Henry David
Thoreau's famed literary works.
The area has long been con
sidered the birthplace of modern
conservation movement and is
visited each year by more than
half a million people from
around the world.
As Don Henley said, "If we're
going to have country music, we
need to save some country."
