Correction
In last Friday's issue of The Battalion, the name of a student run
ning for freshman senator was inadvertently left out from the re
sults of last Thursday's freshman elections.
Jennifer Horelica was elected as a senator for the Class of '97.
The Battalion regrets the error.

ness, Richard Feldman, professor of
industrial engineering, discussed a
need to investigate the University's
requirement of using an American
Express card to obtain reimburse
ment for travel expenses during
University-related trips.
Feldman said he chose not to
carry an American Express card
because of its support of organiza
tions he disagrees with and being
forced to use one by the Universi
ty is an infringement on his rights.
A Senate committee will inves
tigate the University's policy con
cerning the card.
The Senate also vowed to look
into offering a degree in visual
arts studies.
Joseph Hutchinson, professor
of environmental design, said he
fears students aren't being educat
ed enough in the area of visual
arts and music.
Texas A&M is "painfully shy"
of offering acceptable courses in
the arts to keep this University in
competition with other major uni
versities, he said.
"If the University is going to be
considered supplemental, it must
include fine arts," he said.
The concept of a visual arts
gree or more courses in the arts
will be brought before the Acade
mic Affairs Committee.
