Texas A&M and Louisiana State have given each
other plenty of headaches over the years on the
football field.
In 1990, A&M visited Baton Rouge with a 3-0
record, ranked 11th in the nation. An unranked LSU
team profited from A&M tailback Darren Lewis
(upper left) being ejected from the game in the second
quarter on a controversial referee decision. LSU
rolled as Tiger wide receiver Todd Kinchen scored
two touchdowns with 215 all-purpose yards in a 17-8
season setback.
However in 1 991, Greg Hill (lower left) burst on
the scene in A&M's season opener. In his first
collegiate game, Hill rushed for 212 yards, the best
ever total by a Division l-A freshman running back
first collegiate game. His running set the tempo as
A&M began their drive toward
their first Cotton Bowl
appearance since 1987 with a
45-7 victory.
Senior quarterback Bucky
Richardson was injured but Jeff
Granger picked up the slack by
completing 5-of-8 passes for 89
yards while rushing for a
touchdown.
The seventh-ranked Aggies
continued their winning ways in
1992 by beating LSU 31-22. It
was A&M's first victory in Baton
Rouge since 1975. Hill had 98
yards rushing while sophomore
Rodney Thomas had 96 yards
rushing.
