Wilber Marshall

HOUSTON (AP) - Three
months in football limbo ended
for Wilber Marshall on Friday

Tagliabue ruled the All-Pro line
backer has a valid contract with
the Houston Oilers.
"I am going to have fun play
ing with Houston. It's a new
challenge for me," Marshall told

Inline Skate Club bringing sport to A&M
By MARK SMITH
The Battalion
Hockey enthusiasts at Texas A&M
now have the opportunity to take a slap
shot from the blue line or flick a wrist
shot from in front of the goalie with the
Inline Skate Club.
Trey Nansh, president of the club, said
the club has grown over the past several
years.
"It's taking off really well," Nansh
said. "I've been playing ice hockey since
I was four, and when I noticed the grow
ing popularity of inline skates down here,
I started the club."
Nansh said everyone is invited to
come out and play with the club. They
practice twice a week at Parking Area 71
on the west side of campus near the Meat
Science and Technology Center.
Nansh said during the fall and spring
semesters there were enough players to
play two games at once.
"We thought about building another
set of goals because we had too many
people waiting to substitute in," Nansh
said.
The club's constitution states that the

Sophomore Marc Wills takes a shot on goal which is tended by Parking Lot 71. The lot, located on the west side of campus, is
fellow teammate sophomore Zack Peltz Monday evening in where the team plays every weekend.
Astros attendance rising
New managment hoping for continued growth
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
HOUSTON — Houston Astros atten
dance figures are up by 35 percent
halfway through the first season under
new ownership, but team officials say
they had hoped for even more people in
the Astrodome.
The third-place Astros drew 1,050,297
fans through 41 home games, compared
with 589,200 at the same point last season.
At this rate, home attendance could
approach the team record of 2,278,217 set
in 1980, when Houstop won its first Na
tional League West title.
But team executives say they expected
more as a new era dawned on a rejuve
nated franchise.
"It's hard to be disappointed when
you're 35 percent ahead, but I am," said
Ted Haracz, the Astros' vice president in
charge of marketing.
"If somebody would have said a year
ago at this time, 'If you had local owner
ship and improved concessions with re
duced prices and a team had grown and
was competitive, what could you do?' I
certainly would have guessed more than
35 percent," he said.
The Astros' turnaround can be credit
ed to Temple trucking magnate Drayton
McLane Jr., who purchased the club last
November. Previous owner John Mc
Mullen, who lives in New Jersey, was un
popular with fans, many of whomo per
ceived him as cheap and greedy.
McLane brought a cash influx and
fresh perspective to the downtrodden or
ganization. He lowered some ticket and
concession prices and plunged into the
free-agent market for star pitchers Doug
Drabek and Greg Swindell.

This Is Not Our Idea
Of A Doctor’s Waiting Room
Contact sports are great, but they don't belong in a medical office. PCA's doctors are physicians in private
practice, not in crowded clinics, so our members enjoy a little more privacy and faster service. PCA offers
100% coverage of preventive dental care, and only a $50 annual deductible for some dental procedures.
