DELIVERY • CARRYOUT DINE-IN loss in the series, the first being the grand slam he gave up to eventual national champion Pepperdine that ended Texas' Omaha trip last year. He answered questions from the press with a glazed look in his eyes, obviously thinking about what might have been. But afterward, I saw Ki- eschnick signing a baseball for a 12-year-old girl. And when he walked off, he wasn't a defeat ed, shamed man. He walked back to the Texas dugout with a defiant air, and I thought about something Robert Harris had said earlier that day. Someone else had asked him about the summer and next year, whether he would be thinking about this past week at all. "I'm not the type of person who sits there and thinks, 'What if . . . .' If that's what happened, then that's what was supposed to happen," Harris said. Then he stood a little straighter and said sincerely, "We'll be back here next year." Kieschnick will never get a chance to come back. He will probably never be the pitching star in the majors like he was in college, although his competi tive spirit will drive him to suc ceed wherever he can. And though Harris and Fedo ra might not get back to Omaha, though I doubt that, they are de termined to come out to the ball park tomorrow, even though to morrow's win may never erase the pain of yesterday's loss. And because of Fedora's de cision to get back on the horse, because of Kieschnick's defiant air and because of Harris' deter mination, I truly hope baseball gets a chance to break my heart one more time. Thursday, June 10 3:00 p.m. College Station Professional Building Auditorium (glass building across the street from hospital) 1605 Rock Prarie Road College Station, Tx. 764-5126 AUSTIN — Three Rio Grande Valley farm workers who have sued the State Bar of Texas seek ing free legal representation be cause they can't afford lawyers will get to argue their case in dis trict court, according to a ruling Wednesday by the 3rd Court of Appeals. The attorney for Maria Gomez, Alicia Naveja and Leonardo Chavez says he hopes the case will bring about a settlement requiring lawyers in Texas to donate at least 40 hours a year in free counseling to indigent residents. Currently, lawyers in Texas are urged to provide 50 hours a year in legal counseling to the poor, but they are not required to do so, according to Marcy Goodfleisch of the State Bar of Texas. The appeals court reversed the decision of a Travis County dis trict court, which dismissed the farm workers' case last year. The workers contend in their lawsuit against the State Bar of Texas that lawyers in Texas have a legal duty to provide pro bono or free services to the needy. The suit likely will be heard in district court this fall. ers in t Women' lapse she dacy. "I doi ing.
