Muster

George Bush who attended the
ceremony as part of a day long
visit to Texas A&M.
Muster committee member
Kim Greebon said she was con
cerned that people would come to
Muster to see Bush rather than to
acknowledge the tradition.
"I hope those people that did
come got something more out of it
(than seeing Bush), she said.
Johnson said the fire codesand
attendance restrictions would
have enforced with or without
Bush.
This year's Muster honored 121
Aggies from the Bryan-College
Station area, special requests and
all those from the Class of 1943
An estimated 400 Musters are
held worldwide.
Rally
Continued from Page 1
"We got a lot of flak for coming
out and legitimizing the KKK,
She said. "But we're here to ex
press a counter-view - to show
that not everybody at A&M is like
this."
Zenker's group said they
planned to leave when the Klan
speakers began their presentation.
Michael D. Lowe, grand drag
on of the Realm of Texas, said the
purpose of the rally was to recruit
for the KKK, and to respond to a
request by Aggie Klan members
to come to College Station.
Lowe wouldn't say how many
A&M students made the request
or how many A&M students are
in the Klan, but only said, "We've
had a lot of help getting our litera
ture around campus."
State Rep. Ron Wilson, who
had been criticized in some of the
KKK literature promoting the
event, briefly attended the rally.
One press release from the
KKK stated, "You've heard
enough liberal propaganda from
the newspapers and from anti
white politicians like Ron Wil
son."
A small table was set up in
front of the Oaks Park pavilion by
the KKK members to sell stickers,
T-shirts, and other items includ
ing bumper stickers that read,
"Ron Wilson, the Klan is not in
the Watermelon business," and
cards comparing African-Ameri
cans to gorillas.
Lowe told the crowd that all
whites were victims of the
African-American community.
"You people who love niggers,
you know this is the truth," he
said. "The L.A. riots are only the
handwriting on the wall."
Lowe said the white race has
lowered itself to accommodate
African-Americans and the future
of the white race should include
racial segregation.
"Let's look at Texas A&M,"
Lowe said. "Texas A&M was
founded by white people. The
Constitution was written by white
Europeans. Our Constitution was
written for us."
Lowe also mentioned the vari
ous beliefs his organization holds,
including an end to foreign aid
drug testing for welfare recipi
ents, and that affirmative action
is, "discrimination for white peo
ple."
During Lowe's speech, some
members of the crowd
screamed,"lies!"
Lowe also said the KKK be
lieves in placing people infected
with the AIDS virus in quaran
tine.
"I know that sounds harsh, but
in the Bible, people with leprosy
were quarantined," he said.
Chris Mostyn, a junior wildlife
and fisheries science major from
San Marcos, came to the rally to
support the KKK.
Mostyn said he agreed with
some, but not all, of what the Klan
stood for.
"They've got some good things
to say," Mostyn said. "Some un
believers just don't understand."
