Take those back and bring me a
size 12."
(This time, he was back in
five minutes with all three
models of the Air Jordan.)
Me: "Guy, I am really sorry,
and you are probably going to
hate me for this, but I just no
ticed that I don't like the way
those Jordans are shaped in the
back. I promise I'll buy some
thing from you.
(He slowly moped back to
the storeroom and brought
back the boxes.)
Me: "Alright, give me the
11-1/2 in the Nike."
Clerk: "Sir, I don't have an
11-1/2 in the Nike, I only have
a 12."
Me: "Are you sure? I could
have sworn a while a go you
said that you had a 12 in this
Nike. Why don't you go dou
ble-check, because I know I saw
it."
(Ten minutes later...)
Clerk: "Sir, I searched the
whole stock room and I
couldn't find one.
Me: "I'm sorry, that's really
my fault. I remember seeing the
Reebok box. Anyway, go see if
you have a Shaquille in my
size."
(Five minutes later, he's
back.)
Me: "I'm really sorry, man, I
should have looked at the price
before I sent you back there. I
feel so bad. I just don't see any
thing that really catches my eye
and is in my price range."
Clerk: "Are you sure, sir?
We do have a lot to choose
from. Have you looked at our
sale shoes?"
Me: "Oooooooh! That's nice!
Wow! I can't believe your sell
ing that shoe so cheap.
Oooooooh! Now that is a bar
gain. I've been looking for this
shoe for so long. But I guess
nothing today, except I do need
a pair of white shoe laces."
(He rings up the 1.99 laces
and asks if that will be cash or
charge.)
Me: "It'll be cash, but do you
think I can get a discount?"
Johnson
Continued from Page 5
"It loosens everybody up, and
Jeff can go out there and he
doesn't have to be quite as care
ful." Johnson
said. "I felt
good until they
got the home
run. It was 2-1,
and anything
can happen
when you have
a one-run lead.
"They're
leading the
league in bat
ting average,
and there's no way you can feel
comfortable."
Granger said that there were a
lot of expectations for him in that
game, his first since tossing a
Southwest Conference single
game record 21 strikeouts against
Lubbock Christian on April 2.
"I had those 21 K's and every
one was expecting me to come
out and strike a lot of people out,"
Granger said.
"Eleven is a lot of strikeouts,
but Texas Tech came out and hit
the ball really well today."
Granger, who improved his
record to 9-1, said he was proud
to notch the 400th win for John
son after a week's wait following
a rainout against Lubbock Christ
ian and a loss to the University of
Texas at Arlington.
"I'm glad I was a part of it. I
didn't guarantee a win, but I said
I'd give it my best stuff for the
team and Coach Johnson,"
Granger said.
