A photo appearing in Mon

the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity
has sponsored Fight Night for
the past 17 years, however the
fraternity has sponsored the
event for the past 16 years. In ad

The Battalion regrets the error.

Ten biology sections added
to summer school schedule
By JEFF GOSMANO
The Battalion
The Department of Biology has added ten addi
tional sections to this summer's course schedule
which will allow up to 300 more students to take bi
ology courses.
New summer courses include introductory and
upper-level microbiology, botany, microbiology and
zoology classes. The new courses include MICR 206,
351, 352, ZOOL 219, 220, and BOTN 304.
Dr. Dave Owens, professor of biology at Texas
A&M, said it is important that students be aware of
these course additions because the new classes and
sections are not listed in the summer registration
manual. (
Students should check with biology professors or
advisers to find out when these new classes are of
fered, he said.
Owens said graduating seniors will benefit most
from the additional classes.
"This will be a tremendous help," he said, "espe
cially to graduating seniors. This will also allow
more students to start on coursework or retake a
class."
The provost's office has provided the funding for
the new courses, he said.

Bryan to test sewer lines
to identify leaking pipes
Bryan will begin smoke testing its sewer lines
this week to uncover leaks in the sewer lines.
"It's important that we identify and repair
these leaks to keep rain and other runoff out of
the lines," said City Engineer Bruce Karr in a re
leased statement.
"Runoff water that reaches the sewer lines is
treated wTth the rest of the wastewater. Since
treating water costs money, we're doing our best
to keep infiltration to a minimum," he said.
The procedure consists of blowing air com
bined with nontoxic smoke into the sewer system.
The smokes reveals leaks because it will flow
against the path of intruding water, causing it to
rise to the surface.
The smoke poses no threat to residents, though,
in the past, it has led to false alarms reported to
the fire department.
The Bryan Fire Department asks that residents
be reasonably sure of the smoke's source before
reporting a fire.
The following subdivisions will be tested be
tween now and July: Copperfield, Nottingham
Forest, Brookhaven and Wheeler Ridge.
