He said he was lying face down, trying to cooperate when officers leaped on him and “one of them applied pressure like he was trying to snap my wrist in half." He said he screamed in pain, and then heard someone shout “Back!" “They all backed away from me and Tm still on the ground waiting to be handcuffed and shortly after that I was shocked by a laser." Asked what the stun-gun darts felt like when they hit him, he said, "I got shocked and it felt like my blood was boiling inside of me." "I got shocked and it felt like my blood was boiling inside of me/' -Rodney King Moments later, as he was on* the ground, he said, he heard the shout: '“We're going to kill you nigger, run!'" “I ran closer to the Hyundai (his car) and I was struck across the right side of the face again," King said pointing to his temple. "To this day there is a bump right here." Kowalski asked what King heard while being clubbed and kicked. "I'm not exactly sure but I heard while they were hitting me chants of 'killer, nigger, how do you feel killer?"' He was asked whether he truly remembered the officers say "nig ger" or "killer." King said he wasn't sure. Outside court, defense attorney Harland Braun noted that no oth er witness had reported hearing racial epithets, so King couldn't be believed. "His case will rest and fall on the question of whether there were any racial epithets," Braun said. Under cross-examination. King acknowledged that after the beat ing he erroneously told his parole officer he hadn't been drinking or "I'm not exactly sure but I heard while they were hitting me diants of 'killer, nigger, how do you feel killer?"' -Rodney King running from police. King said he lied because he feared he would go back to prison for a parole vio lation. King will return to court Wednesday for more cross-exami nation. If convicted of all charges, the defendants could be sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined $250,000. A trial in state court ended last April on acquittals on nearly all charges for Wind, Officers Lau rence Powell and Theodore Briseno and Sgt. Stacey Koon. Within hours, Los Angeles erupted into three days of rioting, killing more than 50 people and causing about $1 billion in dam age. Easterwood Continued! from Page 1 The item was approved 4-2 by councilmembers Larry Catlin, Hank McQuaide, Marc Hamlin and Mayor Marvin Tate. Coun cilmembers Kandy Rose and Rudy Schultz did not approve the funding request. Rose said the funding demon strates continued cooperation be tween Bryan and A&M, but the city needs to know what facilities will be improved. "I have trouble with the coun cil giving Texas A&M money when we haven't been given de tailed plans," she said. "Bryan has never given $100,000 to an en tity where we haven't seen de tailed plans." She also said giving A&M the money is in conflict with Bryan's own airport. Coulter Field. Councilmember Schultz agreed and said before Bryan gives $100,000 to Easterwood Airport, improvements should be made to Coulter Field. He said funding should be compromised between the two airports. "Whatever funds we have available, I believe it would be best for Bryan, it would be wiser, if we split the money between Coulter Field and Easterwood," he said. The city of College Station has already agreed to provide $100,000 for airport improve ments. However, Rose said it makes sense for College Station to provide the money because the city will collect taxes on sales, car rentals and hanger fees. She said Bryan will not receive a direct return on its investment because the city will not collect property taxes or other types of taxes on the land. Hamlin agreed but said, "East erwood Airport an asset to Bryan, but one we can't put a monetary value on." 1993 LflDY AGGIE SOFTBALL OUR NEXT HOME QflME Tulsa University Thursday, March 11 2 Games 5 & 7 p.m. Bqq Crook Jennifer McFalls #2 Jr.2L Grand Prarie, Texas One of the Lady Aggies TONIGHT!!!
