Dad: "Who would want to watch some stupid di nosaur when they could watch Weiner Dogs play the Fighting Evil Clowns." He'll watch any basket ball game as long it is col lege because he hates the National Basketball Associa tion. Dad: "David, how can you watch the NBA?" Me: y 'How come you don't like the NBA, Dad. It's just those college kids grown up. Dad: "They make too many of their shots, the refs don't call traveling, Michael Jordan never gets called for anything, they dunk too much, they make too much money, and no Evil Clown has ever made a NBA team." Me: "But Dad, you forgot that three Weiner Dogs play for the Dallas Mavericks." He's really improved on his viewing talents this year. He's perfected the art of watching four games simul taneously, and now he can put batteries into the remote control while wearing a blindfold. This year, there is just no stopping him. He's too well prepared. So if you happen to turn on the tube at 3 a.m. some time next week and you catch the Southeastern West Virginia Things That Hang Down In the Back of Your Throats against the Universi ty of Somewhere in Montana Elvis Imitators, just think - You're not alone. Maine Continued from Page 4 with a strong winning tradition. "They are well coached - that's legendary - (but) I thought that we played a good game," Johnson said. A&M pitcher Trey Moore threw 7-1/3 innings of three-hit baseball, posting a career-high eight strike outs. A stingy Moore didn't allow a hit until a single in the fourth inning, and then struck out the side in the fifth, holding on to a slim 2-0 lead. But momentum changed in the sixth as Maine's Champi singled and catcher Shawn Tobin sacri ficed to knot the score at two apiece. A&M's Brian Thomas added a run in the seventh, sending home right fielder Stephen Claybrook from third on a two-strike, two- out single up the middle. Winkin praised Thomas after the game, calling him one of the best two-strike hitters he's seen. "You can't make mistakes against a team like this - they don't make many mistakes them selves," Winkin said. A&M's Chris Clemons relieved Moore with the score 3-2 after an errant throw to first by Moore sent Maine shortstop Shanan Knox to third. Clemons then snuffed out the Black Bears' eighth-inning rally, striking the next two batters out, and A&M gave him a two-run cushion in the eighth. However, Clemons gave up two runs on right fielder Glen Stupiensk's double and sent in the tying run on a wild pitch. After posting a strong perfor mance pitching and at the plate as a designated hitter, Moore put losing the win to Clemons aside, joking that the victory might sene as penance. "I did that to Jeff Granger earli er in the year, so what comes around goes around," Moore said. A&M shortstop Robert Harris and Thomas each singled to open up the ninth, and catcher Rob Trimble was intentionally walked to load the bases. Bittiker came to the plate and sent the first pitch over the drawn-in outfield to win the game. On Saturday, Maine won the first game of their season in the first game of the double-header, but were trounced in the night cap, 11-2. In the first game, Jeff Granger grabbed the A&M career strikeout lead, surpassing Mark Thur mond's previous record of 273 in the first inning, but lost the game after giving up five earned runs in five innings. r & use M n f of Mexican American Culture "Unity Among Latinos" by Dr. Emily Santiago Jpl (MSC Wednesday March 10, 1993 Room 226 MSC 7:00 - 8:00PM (MS© m RESEARCH Panic Do you experience brief, unexpected periods of intense fear or discomfort? The win improves the Long horns to 20-6 overall and 13-1 in SWC play. It forces a coin flip Monday between Texas and No. 7 Texas Tech to decide the top seed for this weekend's SWC Women's Tournament in Dallas. The victo ry also clinches a tie for the SWC championship with Texas Tech, and gives Texas of its 17th consec utive 20-win season. Texas could never quite shake free of the Aggies (15-11, 7-7 in SWC) but Henderson's eight points during the final 4:13 of play and her domination of the paint all but settled the issue. Vicki Hall poured in 16 points and a team-high 11 rebounds for the Longhorns, and Joanne Ben ton added 12 points — 10 in the first half. Texas A&M, who will be seed ed fourth in the upcoming tourna ment, was led by freshman center Kelly Cerny's 15 points. Lisa Branch and Yolanda Brown added 11 points apiece for the Aggies. Brown led all A&M rebound ers with sevend boards. Branch led the team in assists with four. Hall was the top rebounder for Texas, pulling down 11 in her fi nal regular season game for Texas.
