AUSTIN — Retired nurse Janie
Kallus won enough money in past
bingo games to put a new roof on
her house and buy food for her
niece's wedding. But Monday, she
hit it really big.
Kallus, 65, claimed the state's
first lotto jackpot — a total of
$21,760,794.
"It hasn't sunk in, it's so over
whelming," she said. "I haven't
come to reality yet."
The reality is that the Schulen-
burg resident was the only person
to pick all six numbers and grab a
lotto jackpot that had been build
ing without a winner since Nov.
14.
She will receive 20 annual pay
ments of about $1,088,000 each.
"Don't spend it all in one
place," state Comptroller John
Sharp said while presenting the
first installment.
Sharp said that not only did she
pick the correct numbers, she had
chosen them in the same order
they were drawn, although that
has no effect in the game.
"She is our first big wi
Sharp said.
But Kallus said she does:

life much.
