Friday, October 30,1992 The Battalion Page 3 (the story so far...) by thomas deeny Crime Stoppers Gunman sought by Bryan police It was 11:48 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18 when a black male wearing a long, dark coat en tered the Easy Shop conve nience store on the corner of LaBrisa Drive and FM 2818 in Bryan. As the male approached the counter, he pulled a rifle from under his coat, threatened the clerk with the gun, and then demanded she open the cash register and hand over her purse. The suspect bolted from the store and was last seen run ning west on LaBrisa Drive. Witnesses described the sus pect as a black male, approxi mately 40 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, thin build, with a moustache and goatee. Bryan police detectives report the sus pect has been involved in three convenience store robberies in the last two weeks. This week the Bryan Police Department and Crime Stoppers need your help to identify the person responsible for these robberies. If you have informa tion that could be helpful, call Crime Stoppers at 775-TIPS. When you call, Crime Stoppers will assign you a special coded number that will protect your identity. If your call leads to an arrest and grand jury indictment, Crime Stoppers will pay you up to $1,000 in cash.
