The Lady Aggies will have to pick their play up even more Oct. 28 when they travel to Austin to try and avenge their Oct. 7 loss to lOth-ranked Texas. •eat ru® % > Doubles tennis team M&M Spores Brlefs iarter. advances to finals FROM STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS 1 Texas A&M's tennis tandem of Scott Phillips and Blake Arrant made it to the finals of the ITA- Rolex Southwest Regional Quali fying Championships in Fort Worth with two wins on Sunday. 1 Phillips and Arrant, who had never played together before de feated John McConnel and Evan McGinn of the University of /frkansas, 7-6, 7-6. They also up ended Chad Clark and Ernesto Ponce of the University of Texas, 64,6-2. Phillips and Arrant will tackle Marcus Hilpert and Bruce Williams of Arkansas in the finals today at 2 p.m. on the campus of Texas Christian University. A win by the two will propel them to the national indoor champi onships, which will be held in February. In singles, Mark Weaver reached the semifinals of the event before losing to Hilpert, 6-3, 6-1. Hilpert is currently ranked in the Top 20 in singles. Women's soccer team splits pair FROM STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS The A&M women's soccer team split two games this week end. Sunday, the Lady Aggies de feated Arkansas-Little Rock, 2-0. Goalie Anjanette Burns, who just moved in front of the net, shut out UALR in its seven shots on goal. Anna Whitehead scored off Terri Stone's assist, and Rennie Rebe scored off a comer kick from Whitehead and a pass from Brit- tan Hlista. On Friday, the women's team lost to Army, 1-0. With three min utes left in the game. Army scored to pull ahead. Bums had 11 saves for the Lady Aggies. A&M's next game will be on Wednesday at Texas Christian.
