Mavericks
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
WACO — Reggie Miller scored
30 points and Detlef Schrempf
added 20 points and 12 rebounds
as the Indiana Pacers routed the
Dallas Mavericks 143-120 in an
NBA exhibition game Wednesday
night.
Miller had three 3-pointers for
the Pacers in a game that drew
2,786 at Baylor University.
Walter Bond led Dallas with 15
points.
The Pacers ran away early,
building a lead of 38-23 by the end
of the first quarter. Dallas shot
only 24 percent and didn't hit a
field goal in the final four minutes
of the period.
Dallas found its touch early in
the second quarter and the Maver
icks pulled back to 42-36, with
8:54 left in the half, but Indiana
pushed the margin back to double
figures in the next two minutes
and Dallas got no closer than 10
after that.
Malik Sealy, the Pacers' first-
round draft pick, scored eight
points in nine minutes in his first
NBA outing.

drilled Texas Tech in Lubbock!
That's the beauty of college
football. On any given day,
any team can show u
anybody.
Don't expect Rice to win
here in College Station, though
A&M has too much to lose,aw
they should be pretty hot at
kickoff time. That's the great
thing of watching a top-ranked
team; every game is a big one
and rest assured the Aggies re
alize it.
Check this out. The Univer
sity of Michigan has a stadium
which holds over 100,000 fans,
and they pack it to the top
week after week. The Universe
ty of Washington's student
body was making enough noise
to push a decibel meter to a
reading of 120 decibels (which
is above hearing impairment
level) when they hosted Ne
braska a few weeks apo. Ta'k
about home field advantage.
This is not to say that play
ing at Kyle Field is a picnic p
visiting teams, but since when
have Texas Aggies ever been
second to anybody in any
thing?
So tell your pals that you're
canceling your road trip and
invite them to Aggielandfor
the weekend. Maybe they'll
tell you the same thing my
friends from Tech told me
when they visited CollegeSb-
tion two weeks ago.
"Man, that Yell Practice bit
was the most incredible thing
I've ever seen," one Tech friend
said.
Yeah. We know.
It's been a long week around
campus. Let's make it a good
weekend.
Just think, one day we'll all
be parked in our RV's out at
Olsen Field, gumming on faji
tas and slurping gin and tonic
over a game of cribbageand"'
can say, "These kids are aln^
the
as enthusiastic as we were.
