Smith, rson that brokeBme Southwest Conference w. He also eameiltion leader, was drafted in amazing speed'l round by the Dallas Cow boys. Glenn said he thought oppos ing offenses would likely test his abilities early after having to avoid Smith's side for the past few years. "I would imagine they are go ing to try and pick on me and throw to my side since Kevin is not there anymore," Glenn said. "But hopefully I will be able to make some big plays early in the season and possibly grab a few in terceptions to show them that Fm not a newcomer to the position." Glenn said the toughest thing about replacing Smith would be gaining the experience that Smith had starting for three years with the Aggies. "It will be tough replacing Kevin Smith and trying to do the things he did here," he said. "I've just got to use my head, learn the defense well and make sure I al ways try and play smart because I think physically I can handle the job." Glenn also said he felt the ex perience he gained while playing junior college ball would help him adjust to starting for a top ten team. "I got experience there I wouldn't have gotten if I had come straight here," he said. "If I had come here, I would have been redshirted and not gotten to play at all, but 1 got to be on the field there and play with one of the best junior college defenses." Replacing three legends is not a task any coaching staff wants to tackle, but it appears Slocum has three candidates who believe they have the ability and desire to start legendary careers of their own. m wfi* | 7' ' 7 , Hii > ^ ^ ^ - ..w /; *■ ■ • ■ ■ ■■ * J* ' /^^fplGEsl ...And the New Generation The Texas A&M Aggies are looking for big years from three team mem bers who will be expected to fill the void created by the loss of Quentin Coryatt, Bucky Richardson and Kevin Smith to the National Football League Draft. Aaron Glenn (31, above) shown warming up for two-a-day practice earlier this fall, will be taking over at the cornerback position formerly filled by Smith. Glenn is a junior college transfer from Navarro, and had an in terception against Stanford in his first start at the Division I level. Sophomore Reggie Graham (38, left) has the tough task of replacing 1991 Southwest Conference Defen sive Player of the Year Quentin Cory att. Graham played on A&M's special teams units during the 1991 season. Sophomore Jeff Granger (below) will step in and start at quarterback af ter the departure of one of A&M's all- time winningest quarterbacks, Bucky Richardson. Granger had quit the football team in the spring to concen trate on baseball, but returned after being cut from the U.S. Olympic Baseball team. tball Schedule Television Ray com (National) ABC None None None None None ) None None me) ESPN None ESPN Score 10-7 ■ ; : V: ' .T • //Y
