Butler 46.0% Graduate Student Representation Yes - 86.1 % No - 12.7% Student Center Usage Fee Referendum Yes - 51.4% No - 48.5% Special Events Center Referendum Yes-91.0% No-8.9% Texas A&M students voted on three separate referendums, including one that could raise fees by four dollars per semester. The Student Center Usage Fee referendum, which calls for an increase to $14 from $10 for the upkeep of the expanded University Center Complex, passed by 157 votes, receiving 2,775 for and 2,618 against. The Special Events Center referendum, which calls for student support for the construction of a facility to replace G. Rollie White Coliseum, was overwhelmingly supported, receiving only 490 no votes out of a total of 5,501. The Graduate Student Representation referendum, which was open only to graduate students, was passed with 68 of the 79 voters approving the measure to start a graduate student senate. Passage of this measure means A&M might have a bicameral student legislature in the future. None of the referendums will necessarily be implemented , but student referendums in the past have led to changes in Student Government as well as fee increases. The Student Senate puts referendums on the ballot so students can have a voice in the course Student Government and the Texas A&M administration set for the University.
