Bomb threat lands offender five-year prison sentence DALLAS (AP) — A man Who mailed an explosive device and a threatening letter to a federal judge has received the maximum sentence of a five-year prison term. Daniel B. Davis was already serving a 109-year state prison term on an unrelated case. U.S. District Judge Jorge Solis said he assessed the maximum term Wednesday for the threat be cause of Davis' "long criminal his tory." Davis, 28, is serving prison terms for murder, kidnapping, ag gravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault on two corrections officers, posses sion of a deadly weapon, burglary and theft. Authorities said Davis mailed the device and letter to U.S. Dis trict Judge Jerry Buchmeyer in February 1991. The judge opened and read the letter but turned the device over to the Dallas police bomb squad.
