Polo Team
The TAMU Women's Polo Team competed in and placed third at the
Collegiate Polo Nationals (after winning Regionals), Thursday,
April 4, at the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Team members competing were Josy Mayor, Rene Sewell, and Kristin
Matlack. Matlack and Sewell were named to the All West All-Star
team, and Matlack was named to the All-American team. Also, the
TAMU Polo horses received the best playing pony awards.

Canoe Trip: The San Marcos River is spring-fed and remains a
constant 72 degrees year round. Enjoy spending the weekenc
paddling this scenic Texas Hill Country River with TAMU Outdoors
Registration ends today! The cost is $40 ($45 for non A&M) and is
limited to 12 participants.
Due to facility repairs at the pool, the intramural swim meet has been
rescheduled to Wednesday, April 24 at 7:30 at the Wofford Cain Pool.
(Rain date is Thursday, April 25.) Due to this delay, the meet will be
removed from the 1991 Intramural point system. No Corps, Fish, or
Residence Halls will compete as teams for points this year.
Introduction to Hang Gliding: Enjoy the beauty and freedom of this
spectacular sport! USHGA certified instructors will present
weekend course. Registration ends today! The cost is $75 ($82for
non A&M).

contributions to the department.
Among her many tasks, Jami puts
together the various Rec Sports
bulletin boards at the Read and
Deware buildings. Much of
Jami's work may go
unrecognized, but is greatly
appreciated.
No preliminaries or divisional will be held. The only event which
will take place will take place as an open meet on April 24. The only
competitions will be in each event for men and women. All
individuals will compete as independents, and if more than one
heat is held in any event, the fastest time will be declared All-
University Champion.
We, at the Department of Recreational Sports, apologize for any
inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
Windsurfing: Take the weekend off and learn the fundamentals o
kayaking in a two day class offered by TAMU Outdoors. The class
will be taught by American Canoe Association certified instructors
The first day includes an introduction to kayak strokes, rescue and
the eskimo roll. The second day will be spent on the San Marcos River
learning how to paddle the boat and get a feel for whitewater. The$6i
($65 for non A&M) fee for this workshop includes transportation,
camping equipment, kayak equipment, camping permits and expe
rienced instruction. Registration continues until April 22. Sign up
early because class size is limited.

The following events will be open for registration during the 1991
summer sessions. To be eligible, you must be enrolled in the session
in which you wish to participate. Faculty, staff, and spouses with a
recreational ID and an annual or summer intramural validation
sticker are also eligible. See the McDonald's Rec Sports Highlights for
specific entry dates.
Family Camping Trip: Join TAMU Outdoors in a camping trip
geared specifically for families. Activities available at the park
include hiking, playground, and an unsupervised swimming area
Canoes, flat bottom boats and paddle boats may be rented from the
boat house. A miniature gold course is also located in the park. Other
activities will include sessions on basic outdoor first aid, star gazing,
outdoor cooking, interpretive hikes, orienteering, families in the
wilderness, and group activities. Fees will vary according to family
size. Registration continues until April 22.
