Woman assigned to prison boot camp HOUSTON (AP) — State correc tions officials may be forced to cre ate a prison boot camp program for just one woman if an appeals court fails to change her sentence. Patricia Manuel, 19, was sen tenced by a Houston judge to the military-style lockup after pleading guilty to injury to a child. She volun tarily surrendered Monday to the Gatesville prison unit, where she will undergo about two weeks of testing and evaluation. Then, unless an appeals court de cides otherwise, she is to be sepa rated from other prisoners and placed in a boot camp for 90 days. The camp consists of rigorous exer cise and work and is aimed atgivinjj young felons a taste of prison life.
