Testing laboratories used by va rious racing states had an overall de tection rate of 54.8 percent in blind tests in which they unknowingly re ceived drug-tainted urine and blood samples. But the ARCI is trying to improve that rate. “The whole industry decided that this problem was too big,” Gowen said. “The whole industry got to gether so that the integrity of racing could be protected. We can’t have a national market for racing until) have a national program to matt sure the integrity of racing is i place.” ARCI racing officials from At bama, Arkansas, Louisiana and 01 lahoma met in San Antonio wiii Texas rac ing officials Saturday at gathering sponsored for the fus time by the Texas Racing Comma sion.
