WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge Monday delayed the start of John Poindexter’s Iran-Contra trial by two weeks, but said former President Rea gan’s videotaped testimony would be taken Friday as scheduled. U.S. District Court Judge Har old Greene said disagreement over the use of about 150 classi fied documents and other mat ters would require delaying Poin dexter’s trial from Feb. 20 to March 5. Richard Beckler, a lawyer for the former national security ad viser, urged that Reagan not be questioned until Iran-Contra prosecutors completed present ing their case. “I’m not going to buy that,” Greene said. They are going to proceed with the Reagan deposi tion in a federal courtroom in Los Angeles on Friday, Greene said. Greene accepted Reagan’s pro posal to have the deposition on Friday in Los Angeles, but the lawyers, that the questioning tab place in Reagan’s offices. Greene said the U.S. court house has the necessary amount of space plus security for classi fied documents. One reason for having the questioning on videotape is so that if Reagan inadvertently dis closes classified information, that portion can be edited before be ing shown at the trial.
