Broadway smash hit
‘Maine’ comes to A&M
“Marne,” one of the longest-run
ning Broadway plays, comes to Rud
der Auditorium Thursday at 8 p.m.
Based on the novel “Auntie Ma
rne,” by Jerome Lawrence and Rob
ert E. Lee, “Marne” is the story of the
hilarious escapades of the zany and
eccentric Marne, and her nephew,
Patrick.
The lyrics and music for the musi
cal numbers were composed by Jerry
Herman, who also wrote the music
for “Hello Dolly.”
Broadway and opera star Patrice
Munsel plays the title role.
“Auntie Marne” was the original
work about Marne, one of the most
popular heroines of American fic
tion. The novel soon became a hit
play, movie and now, a record-
breaking musical. The musical has
won five Tony Awards.
“Marne” remained on Broadway
for more than three years after its
original debut.
Tickets are on sale at Rudder Box
