Southwest Airlines CEO to talk about business

lines will speak about marketing

Herbert D. Kelleher, who re
ceived a bachelor’s degree from
Wesleyan University and a bache
lor of laws degree from New
York University, founded South
west Airlines Co. in 1967 and has
served as chairman of the board
since 1978. He has been presi
dent and chief executive officer
of Southwest Airlines since 1981.
Kelleher has received many
awards and honors, including the
Best Chief Executive Officer, Air
line Industry, from “Financial
World;” member, Texas Business
Hall of Fame; and One of Three
Best CEOs of Decade, Airline In
dustry, “Financial World.” He
also is a member of the State Bar
of Texas and the American Bar
Association.
Dallas-based Southwest Air
lines is the 11 th largest airline in
the country, serving 27 cities in
the Southwest with a fleet of 85
jets. In 1988, Southwest became
the official airline of Sea World.

Williams Brothers, said the company
received approval from the U.S.
Customs Service to import the South
African steel and delays will cost
money and slow the project.
Pitcock also said in his letter that
the company previously has im
ported steel from South Africa for
other highway projects since the pas
sage of the anti-apartheid act.
