My mind is made up. The 1966 U.S. Open will be my final tournament,’’ Evert wrote in the Aug. 28 issue of Sports Illustrated. Evert. 34, will still represent the United States in the Federation Cup in Tokyo in October. She and Mar tina Navratilova will play exhibition matches this fall and winter, and she may make a cameo appearance at a tournament in Boca Raton. Fla . where she lives "But as for Chris Evert, serious competitor, yes. I guess I really am outta here," she wrote "I don't feel the same intensity. . . I know I’ve lost some confidence, and I just don’t want to pay the price any roore." A native of Fort Lauderdale. Fla , Evert has won more matches and more tournaments than any other player, male or female. She has won the U.S Open six times, Wimbledon three times, the Australian Open twice and the French Open a record seven times.
