The hotel’s management is the same that owns and runs the Dobie Center, a tower dormitory at the University of Texas at Austin. Sandel said the Dobie Center has been successful and hopes the same forthe University Tower. The hotel is making several reno vations to prepare it for housing stu dents in the fall, such as replacing the carpet and furniture and rede signing the lobby area. Sandel said three sizes of rooms Kill be available — a 12 feet by 24 feet room, a 13 feet by 27 feet room with a balcony and a larger one bed room suite. Although the University Hotel Kill house students, Sandel said the University Police won’t be involved in security. The hotel will have a 24-hour sur veillance camera, and students will have security cards they’ll use to get into the hotel after hours. Dining facilities will be provided for both students and the public. The hotel will have a public restau rant and a cafeteria. Both students and non-students will be allowed to purchase a meal plan to eat in the hotel’s cafeteria. The University Tower parking lot will provide up to 500 spaces for stu dent parking, and will rent reserved spaces. Sandel said a two-level parking garage may be built if it becomes necessary to provide more parking space. The hotel also will purchase a shuttle bus and provide transporta tion to and from campus. Friday, April 21,1989 The Battalion Page 9 Police look for suspects in computer robbery A basement laboratory in the En gineering/Physics Building was robbed Sunday, April 2 sometime before 2:30 p.m. Upon entering the basement, thieves stole a special purpose high speed desk-top computer and a com ponent board from one room, and a compatible printer from another. Stolen items included: a Compaq Desk Pro 386/20 computer, serial number 4813AQ4B0719 and an Apple Laser Writer 2 NT, serial number CA843PKH. The two were valued at more than $22,000. No suspects have been identified, but investigators believe more than one person was involved and that j the thieves were familiar with the | operations of the lab and the equip ment.
