Comedy show brings laughs By Chuck Lovejoy The Coors Light Comedy Commandos will return to Texas A&M Friday night at 8 in Rudder Auditorium. Plenty of seats are still available, which is welcome news to those who were turned away from last year’s sold-out performance. Vanessa Vance, a Town Hall member, said this year anyone wanting to see the show should be able to get a ticket. “The problem last year was that the show was held in Rudder Theater, which only seats 750 people,” she said. “We sold about half the seats before the show, but too many people showed up to purchase tickets at the door. Some people had to be turned away. “We shouldn’t have that problem this year. The Rudder Auditorium holds 2,500, so anyone should be able to buy a ticket. ” Headlining the program are comedian John Ferrentino and comedienne Romie Angelich. Ferrentino began his career as a magician and gradually added more and more comedy to his routine. Today, his talents have taken him to comedy clubs across the country including the prestigious Dangerfield’s, founded by Mr. Respect himself, Rodney Dangerfield. Ferrentino has also performed onstage with the likes of Eddie Murphy, Jay Leno and ‘Weird AT Yankovik, in between movie and television appearances. His film credits include “Rider PI” and “Harry and Son, ” which starred Paul Newman and Robby Benson. Angelich is a Texas comedienne whose search for fine retail shopping has taken her across the United States, as have her numerous appearances in comedy clubs. Angelich’s comedy has been praised by many publications, including the Chicago Sun- Times, who called her “hilarious. ” She has appeared onstage with Judy Tenuta and Paula Poundstone, among others. Tickets for the Commando show, a highlight of last year’s MSC Town Hall series, are only $2.50 and are available at the MSC Box Office or at Dillard’s in Post Oak Mall. A limited number of tickets will be given away Friday in a promotion at Rudder Fountain from 11 a. m. until 1 p.m. Tickets are also being awarded by KTSR, FM 92, to the person or persons who tell the best joke in on-the-air joke contests, which will be held through Friday. In addition, several tickets were given away last night at a small program at the Flying Tomato following the Hurricane Bowl yell practice.
