Even the most conscientious student can
devote himself to his studies for only so long. At
some point in the week, everyone needs some
time away from the hassles and hustle of
school. But where do students go when they
need to escape? This week, At Ease hits the
streets, the bars, the clubs and the restaurants to
find out where Aggies hang out.
Our main story, written by The Battalion’s
assistant city editor in a special guest
appearance, covers Northgate — the hangout
popular with all types of Aggies. Northgate has
something to offer everyone, from beer to ice
cream and from honky-tonk music to new-
wa ve melodies. We Ve taken a stoll down this
hangout's haven, talked to a few people and
really gotten an atmosphere for several nook
and cranny businesses.
But if you want to get even farther away from
the Texas A&M campus, we've given you a few
suggestions for dancing and eating hot spots.
First, since everyone likes to eat, we've taken
the liberty of recommending several restaurants
that are popular with students and faculty
members alike.
And once you've eaten, you ’ll probably want
to find a place to socialize with your friends and
dance a bit No matter what type of music you
enjoy, there’s a place in town where you can
strut your stuff. Look inside for a guide to some
well known nighttime havens.
Closer to home is an issue that has caused
heated debate between students and
administrators. RudderTower will be converted
into a faculty club in February, leaving students
without one of their favorite lunchtime
