Well, the fact of the matter is that most of us spend four years in college hitting the books so that we can spend the rest of our lives earning the bucks. With this in mind, it is important to know where the jobs are and how to get them. Fields of the future 6 The experts say the jobs of the future will require more skilled workers with more education. But the good news is that if the predictions are true, more of these jobs will be available, virtually closing the unemployment gap. Grammar graduates 10 Many believe that students who graduate with an English degree, or any liberal arts degree, have no real career options. But we live in a society that is depending more and more on good communication skills, say the experts, and English majors are holding their own. Aggienizing Answers 10 This week we hit the sidewalks to ask Aggies what they think of their job opportunities. We asked, “Do you think you’ll find a job?” Most of those surveyed are optimistic about their futures, but are also doing everything possible to make themselves more marketable. Album review 4 The songs on “That Total Age” by Nitzer Ebb, a West German group, can be described as industrially synthesized dance music. Tom says the sound is original and diverse, and should appeal to fans of heavy metal, hard rock and synthesizer pop. The only problem with the album is a language barrier. Movie review 4 Tom says “Surrender”, starring Sally Field and Michael Cain, is nothing more than a mildly entertaining comedy. Look inside to see why. Dear Readers: Are you beginning to wonder what you're going to be doing with your life after college? Are you beginning to worry about finding a job, or feeling guilty for not even knowing what the current job situation is? Never fear, At Ease has decided to come to the rescue and help you out by letting you know what the current job market looks Hke. Our main story talks about the jobs with the highest starting salaries, about which fields are “hot”and which fields are not, about what factors you should consider when choosing your first real job and about what perspective employers look for when hiring college graduates. Next, we did some research and produced a story on what to expect from the job market of the future. This article will be especially helpful to those who haven’t made any career decisions yet, or those who haven’t even chosen their majors. Finally, in Aggienizing Answers we asked students what they think diet chances are of finding a job once they graduate. Most students don’t seem too worried about landing employment, although they agree that they can’t be too picky when it comes to deciding on a particular job. Also, we've included an optimisticstory on the employment situation for English majors, as it is rumored that liberal arts graduates have such a diBcult time ending a job.
