Strange, Kite to open Ryder Cup play for U.S.

in the opening match of the 1987
Ryder Cup competition.

Pairings for the other opening
matches, in which each two-man
team plays alternate shots on the
same ball, are: Hal Sutton and Dan
Pohl vs. Ken Brown of Scotland and
Bernhard Danger of West Germany;
Lanny Wadkins and Masters cham
pion Larry Mize vs. British Open
champion Nick Faldo of England
and Ian Woosnam of Wales; and
PGA titleholder Larry Nelson and
Payne Stewart vs. the Spanish team
of Seve Ballesteros and Jose-Maria
