Judges should resign posts
AUS TIN (AP) —Gov. Bill Clem

an investigation of the Texas Su
preme Court last year called
Wednesday for the resignations of
the two justices who were officially
rebuked this week.
If justices C.L. Ray and William
Kilgarlin don’t step down, impeach

“Should they be impeached?” he
asked. “I would not discount that at
all. And certainly, that is a question
for the Legislatm e to determine.”
Clements press secretary Reggie
Bashur said Wednesday that the
governor, too, believes the two jus

Clements “believes in integrity,
and credibility must be restored to
the stale judicial system,” Bashur
said. “ The governor has called for
such reform for a long time and sup

As a state representative in l‘)<36,
Tejeda chaired the House judicial
Affairs Committee that investigated
alleged improprieties by Ray and

Information brought out in that

think that immediate action should
be taken."
