■-5 "Deep in the Heart of Nowhere" Bob Geldof Atlantic Records ★ Now let’s look at Bob Geldof. He wrote for Melody Maker, and gained a reputation as being one of the toughest music critics around. He became lead singer and manager of the Boomtown Rats and led the band to fame, if not fortune, before the band broke up in 1984. He wrote some of the Rats’ greatest songs. He starred in Alan Parker’s film version of Pink Floyd’s album “The Wall.” He, along with Midge Ure, wrote “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” He organized “Band Aid,” the all-star group that recorded “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” He organized “Live Aid,” the all-star, two-city, concert/telethon. He raised several hundred million dollars for the famine victims in Ethiopia through “Band Aid,” “Live Aid’’and resulting projects. He released his first solo album, “Deep in the Heart of Nowhere, ” a collection of songs that captures all of the bad, but none of the good, aspects of the Rats’ music. Bob Geldof has done a lot of great things, but this album isn’t one of them. —Review by Karl Pallmeyer $tudent $pecials Roll & Coffee $ i. m French Toast & Coffee $ i. 69 Two eggs, two bacon or sausage, two slices of toast s 2. 29 ALL-U-CAPLEAT BUFFET $7 99 Lunch Buffet $ 2. 59 J'&pftlPA Wltn0r ° im ' D ' good thru April at All Bryan/College Station Kettle Locations *MSC VARIETY SHOW AUDITORIUM TIHIE 1 TaVICT Of JO/HETHINOII3IO! fEIDAy,Affl_ 1C /:M IM TICKETS AVAILABLE AT MSC BOX OFFICE AND ALL TICKETRON OUTLETS *4“ AND $5“ ALL SEATS RESERVED Emcee: fNIECOUNfC Of Ttf TEAC
