Dear Readers: Surprise! Believe it or not, At Ease actually made it out on a Thursday. No April fools today! Despite popular opinion, we have not moved our distribution date back to Friday. We’ve just encountered some technical difficulties that have caused our last two issues to come out a day late. We thank you for your patience and understanding, and apologize for any inconvenience the delays have caused you. Hopefully we will not fall prey to that ugly animal known as unforseen circumstance any more this semester. This week’s issue has to do with a special group of people at A&M — those who work behind the scenes. The work of the grounds maintenance crews, the janitorial staffs, food services employees and many others often goes unnoticed and unappreciated. Yet these are the people who keep this campus ticking. We've taken the time out to talk to of few of these behind-the-scenes people, and have found out that their jobs may be more interesting than you think. We’ve also dug up some interesting facts about the more unusual jobs around campus. Haven’t you always wondered, for example, who flips off the lights during yell practice? Look inside for the scoop. As the semester winds down (yes, we have already reached the ’'winding down ’’stage), we know you are busy preparing for finals and/or making graduation plans. But don’t forget about your old friend, the At Ease attention!! page. We are still waiting to hear from vou! At Ease Staff Editor Karen Kroesche Asst. Editor Nancy Neukirchner Staff Writers Lydia Berzsenyi Yvonne DeGraw Reviews Karl Pallmeyer Photographer Greg Bailey Production Randy Marquardt Behind-the-scenes people There are many jobs on this campus done by behind- the-scenes people. They handle the cleaning, gardening, cooking and other kinds of services at A&M. But most of the time we hardly notice them. Take some time to take a look at this special group of Aggies. Keeping A&M ticking Have you ever wondered who reshelves all the books you remove from the library’s shelves? Or who changes the time on the Albritton Tower during Daylight Savings Time? Or who decides what songs it is going to play? If your curiosity has gotten the better of you, turn to page 7 to find out the answers to these and other interesting questions. Album Reviews Karl says the Boomtown Rats’ new “Greatest Hits” ought to be called “Greatest Songs” instead, since they’ve never hit the Top 40 in America. He also takes a look at Bob Geldof’s first album, “Deep in the Heart of Nowhere. ” Movie Review Richard Dreyfuss and Danny DeVito star in “Tin Men”. The movie is being billed as a comedy, but Karl says the serious side can stand on its own. Best Bets Movies
