“The community is just small for a
university this size,” he says. “In
Houston or Austin it would be OK.”
Because the majority of tax re
form affects financial aid awards
given this year and after, current
students will not be affected as much
as those now in high school. But
while the A&M financial aid office
has yet to receive official regulations
on tax reform, the students who
need information most may not be
getting it at all.

selor Peggy White says she hasn’t re
ceived any information on tax re
form or the changes in GSLs and
says she doesn’t think her students
are informed about changes that
may affect them.
“I don’t think they’re aware and I
don’t think it’s really hit the paren
ts,” she says. “I’ve had maybe one
student ask out of 600 seniors.
That’s not too good.”
High school students may be
uninformed about changes that may
affect them, but Benson says one of
his problems comes from knowing

changes. Staff morale is down, he
