8 Best place drink beer S:':w:v5||kS Poll reveals food, fun favorites By Molly Pepper StaffWriter Conducting a poll without any bias is a difficult job, best left to Gallup or Harris, so I did just that. When assigned to poll the campus and discover what stu dents thought “The Best of Col lege Station” was, I decided to carefully survey men and women from three of the most biased groups of people on campus, with my own biases intact. Three buildings I consider to be hot spots on campus were the targets. F irst was the Blocker Building, home of the capitalist-moder- ate-conservative-business-ma- jor-pig-dogs. Then came Zachry with its ultra-conservative, neo- nerdy, engineering types. Fi nally the Academic Building and the punked-out, neo-artsy liberal arts crowd. I visited each of these build ings in search of a typical group of each kind to question and find out where is the most ro mantic place to have dinner, the best place to drink beer, who has the best fajitas, the best ice cream, and the best de- liveiy service (not necessarily the fastest). eing the aspiring, biased Bat talion writer that I am, I’d al ready picked the correct an swers before I left the Reed McDonald Building. To score the survey, I gave a point for each correct answer at each building. The Blocker Building had one less person on its team but since fairness was no object in my survey it doesn’t matter anyway. At Blocker I spotted a couple eating their lunches. Knowing how hard it is to eat and talk at the same time, I chose them as my Blocker sample. The couple turned out to be Lorrie Spelhaug, a graduate student in business computing science, and Doyle Lane, a se nior in industrial distribution. itting outside, Lorrie was wearing shorts and enjoying the sun while Doyle was sweating away in jeans and a button down. Fairly typical for a sunny day at Blocker. Doyle said he hasn’t been out for a romantic dinner in five years but Lorrie liked Maxi’s and Cenare.
