Th4 Longnornft tee re the surprise
****** of the conference this season.
But when their chances arrived to
inag the title. UT choked, losing its
late two games to TCU and Tech by
ft combined two points. r
■ Weltikh Says the 'Horns are the
best team in the league, which isn't
saying a lot since the SWC is one of
the weakest conferences in the na
tion.
(Texas did play seven one-point
games this season and lost six of
them. Maybe the ’Horns are the best
team in the league.
The, SWC coaches think Texas at
Jkjast has the best players.

They voted UT’s John Brownlee
as Offensive Player of the Year and
Karl Willock as the Defensive Player
of the Year
But as a team, the Longhorns
have proven all talk and no actioh so
far. -
Houston (8-8, 14-13) is the mys-
tery team of the tournament
They have three of the best play
ers in the league inAlvin Franklin,
Greg Anderson ani! ft . kie Winslow,
but can’t get the right chemistry to
gether. . ^ v.
The Cougars are losing their
coach, Guy V. Lewis, at the end of
the tourney and would like nothing
better than to obtain one last NCAA
appearance for him.
The incentive has been there aril
season, however, and little has been
accomplished. • The Cougars lost
three of their last four games.
But Lewis ja probably in the lab
now, brewing tm another winning
formula, while Texas does it Weit-
lich’s way — by losing.

Living with someone for the first time can be an
“educational” experience.
And living with a long distance company isn’t any
different. Because some companies may not save you
all the services you’re used to getting from AT&T.
Rjt instance, with some companies you have to
spend a certain amount before you qualify for their
special volume discounts. With some others, voice
quality may vary. | p , .
But when you choose AT&T, there won't be any
surprises when you move in. Youll get the same high-
quality, trouble-free service you’re used to.
With calls that sound as close as next door. And
discounts off our Day Rate on your state-to-state calls.

Friday. And 40% discounts evenings between 5pm and
11pm, Sunday through Friday..
With AT&T, youll continue to get services like im
mediate credit for wrong numbers and collect calling.
And long distance operators to help you anytime there's
a problem on the line.
So when you’re asked to choose a long distance com
pany, choose AT&T. Because whether you’re into Mozart
or metal, quality is the one thing everyone can agree
on. Call 1 800 222-0300 for more information or to
