Dormitory students learn about theft risk
By KRISTI GILL
Reporter
A program of checking open
doors to prevent more burglaries in
dormitories has been activated by
the staff of Mosher Hall.
Karen Knoepfli, the dormitory’s
head resident, said the program,
called GOTCHA, requires Mosher
staff members to make checks of
dorm halls and leave notes in unat
tended rooms with open doors.

The note will tell the resident that
someone was able to enter their
room without their knowledge or
permission, Knoepfli said, and will
warn the resident of the room that
although the staff member was not a
burglar, it would have been just as
easy for a burglar to enter the room.
Residents leave their rooms open
and unattended without ever think
ing about the fact that no one is
around to watch their belonging?,
she said.
Knoepfli said the rooms thaikl

“The notes kind of make i
(the residents) realize how
something can happen,” Kn«
