Rudder Auditorium was alive
with the sound of music when the
Texas A&M Symphonic Band pre
sented its annual fall concert Thurs
day night.
Playing to an audience of about
200 students, adults and children,
the 85-piece band performed selec
tions byjohn Philip Sousa, J.S. Bach,
Alfred Reed and Leroy Anderson.
joe Haney, director of I
hand.
The concert began with “The
Free Lance March’ by Sousa and
was followed by Bach’s “Komm’ Sus-
ser Tod.” Master of ceremonies,
Capt. Jay Brewer gave a short synop
sis of each piece preceding the selec
tion.
John J. Haynie, a retired trumpet
teacher from North lexas State
University, performed two solos,
“Carnival of Venice” and “Concert
Etude.” After he concluded his per
formance, the band gave him a
standing ovation.
