to down Houston

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Kings
guard Larry Drew swiped an in
bound Houston pass with 11 seconds
to go and hit a layup to let Sacra-
mento ice a 122-116 win over Hous
ton in a National Basketball Associa
tion game Thursday.
Sacramento
led the Rockets
until 1:23 left to
play when Akeem
Olajuwon con
nected on two
free throws to put
Houston on top, 114-113. Ten sec
onds later, the Kings’ Eddie Johnson
hit a 10-foot jumper to put Sacra
mento back on top.
It was the First win of the NBA
regular season for the now 1-2 Kings
and the franchise’s First since mov
ing to Sacramento from Kansas City.
Drew', who scored 14 points, got
12 of that total in the second quarter
off fastbreak plays to spark an 18-
point Kings lead.
Sacramento’s Johnson led all
scorers with 37 points. Akeem Olaju
won topped Houston scorers at 30
points.
Houston relied on a 13-point per
formance by guard Lewis Lloyd ciur-
ing a two minute period in the third
quarter to whittle away at the Kings’
lead. That rally pulled Houston to
within eight points at the start of the
Final quarter.
