Cheap Frick Ws the opening act and quickly basho its way through an energetic set t-u included the band’s biggest hits/Fhe group was fronted by singer Rbin Zander and guitarist extraordinWe Rick Niel sen. With a barrage f living guitar picks into the audiem, Nielsen and the rest of the band ptfonned rous ing versions of “I Wanfyou to Want Me,” “Stop This Giie,” “She’s Tight” and “Standing the Edge.” But the biggest response were regis tered for the band’s lat^t hit “To night It’s You” and the c\ssic “Sur render.” hers jack Blades, Jeff Watson, Brad Gillis, Kelly Keagy and Alan “Fiu” Gerald thrilled the crowd with their own brand of heavy metal. The highlight of Night Ranger’s show was the guitar heroics of Wat son and Gillis. With songs like “Four in the Morning,” “Sentimental Street,” “Night. Ranger” and “Touch of Mad ness,” the band completely manipu lated the crowd. The piece de resis tance, however, was Watson’s guitar solo on the song “You Can Still Rock in America,” in which he featured an eight fingered hammer on/pull off technique. However, the night befnged to Night Ranger. Coining oi to the stage by way of a magic lamcUnd ex plosions, the band strutted ts way through an incredibly tight se. With flashes of bovish charm, bancpiem- 1 he band’s encore featured two of its biggest songs. The song “Sister Christian” was met with an over whelming response as was the band’s very First hit, “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me.” At the end of the concert, bassist Blades assured the crowd that even though this was Night Ranger's first appearance in College Station it wouldn’t he the last. pray tc ution : The inarch yell “bt the evt corner nues.
