David Eisen, research and infor
mation director of the Guild in Res-
ton, Va., told The Battalion the
VDT bills did not pass because “the
manufacturers (of VDTs) have lob
bied them to death.”
The Guild supports VDT legis
lation because studies done on VDT
operators show VDTs to be a health
problem, Eisen said.
States eventually will pass VDT
legislation because the issue will re
main until VDT regulations are en
forced, he said.
George Cashau, technical re
search director of the American
Newspaper Publishers Association,
which opposes VDT legislation, said
in a telephone interview that VDTs
can’t be directly linked to any of the
problems VDT operators complain
of.

scientific progress,” Cashau said.
Cashau said VDTs can’t be

He said properly-fitted chairs and
adjustable tables are a problem for
employers to solve.

ply want “freebies,” he said.
