. "now showing MSC Aggie Cinema and Cepheid Variable Piranhacon VI Tired of studying for finals? Has your brain fizzled to a frazzle? Don't stare at those textbooks a second longer, because MSC Ag gie Cinema's infamous film festi val, Piranhacon VI, is here again! Head over to The Grove and catch such classics as "The Lonely Lady'' starring the lady who graduated from the Bo Derek school of acting, Pia Zadora. See this inspiring story of a frustrated Hollywood writer who finally makes her dreams come true. If sentimental stories aren't your cup of tea, then maybe yon would like to see "The Ghost in the Invisi ble Bikini." And then again, maybe you wouldn't. This thriller stars the horror movie master himself, Boris Karloff. Basil Rath- bone of Sherlock Holmes fame is also visible. (At least I hope he is. Who wants to see Basil Rathbone in a bikini. Or without one, as far as that goes.) Finally, a top-notch thriller for all you Japanese monster movie fans. Yes, they are all here in "Destroy All Monsters." Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan apd Monster X are on the rampage again. Now if that isn't a great triple bill of flicks I don't know what is. But wait. That isn't all you get. Some shorts will also be shown including one with an in terview with Spiro Agnew. Fri day. 8:45. The Grove. Plitt Cinema III 846-6714 The Breakfast Club — R Five kids are stuck in detention for nine hours. Nothing can be more depressing than nine hours with five of your non-closest friends. Funny thing how easy it is to find friends where you least expect them.Every character will remind you of someone you knew in high school — perhaps even yourself. Let's see, there is a jock, a prin cess, a brain, a basketcase and a criminal. This is perhaps the first movie I've ever seen where kids are acting like kids. Gotcha — PG-13 Go see this one only if you are desperate for entertainment. An thony Edwards of "Revenge of the Nerds" fame stars as your aver age American college student wha is looking for romance but becomes involved in interna tional espionage. Sounds good doesn't it? Well, it does have some comical moments (particularly in the French cafe when Edwards tries to communicate with a snotty waiter) but, overall, it just doesn't quite work out. Gymkata — R I haven't seen this one, folks, but advance word says that it's a show about a new form of self-de fense that combines karate with gymnastics. It stars gymnastics world champion, Kurt Thomas. Chuck Norris, eat your heart out. Post Oak 764-0616 Lady Hawke — R A street pickpocket (Matthew Broderick) escapes from jail and is rescued from pursuers by a knight (Rutger Howar). In and amongst all the bravado of chiv alry, Broderick becomes the cus todian of the knight's woman (Michelle 'Pfeiffer). Would you trust a thief with your most pre cious treasure? I personally wouldn't trust myself with Mat thew. This was sold out when I went to see it so get there early. You deserve it. Mask — PG-13 Cher gives an incredible perfor mance as biker and unmarried mother, Rusty Dennis. Her son, Rocky (Eric Stoltz), has a disease which has deposited calcium in large amount on his skull and should kill him. Their relationship is truly memorable. Rocky's ac ceptance of his problem is one that all of us can learn from. Di rected by Peter Bogdonavich. Definitely one to see. Desperately Seeking Susan — PG-13 The movie all belly-button fans have been holding in their stom achs for has made it to B-CS. Ma donna appears in this, her first full-length feature role. Rosanna Arquette wants out of her life as a preppie housewife. Her dream is to belong to the world of Susan (i.e. Madonna) who lives life to the fullest by blatantly disregard ing the laws. For everyone who has dreamed of escaping a ste reotype but didn't have the guts to be different. Schulman Six 775-2463 Beverly Hills Cop — R How much money can this movie make? That seems to be the only question left. Eddie Murphy stars as a Detroit cop who follows the trail of a friend's killer to Beverly Hills. This is a comedy-thriller with tons of action and Murphy is as great as always. Only Eddie could wear the same shirt throughout Beverly Hills and not look tacky. Paramount executives are already discussing a sequel. Classic Eddie Murphy. Police Academy II — R Having outgrossed almost all other movie comedies, the re cruits of "Police Academy" have graduated to new highs — every thing from crime to hilarity, as they band together once more to protect and serve a city where no one is safe, especially from them. Moving Violations — R As if "Police Academy" wasn't enough, here's "Moving Viola tions." Something (maybe is was the gaudy press packet) tells me this movie has little to no poten tial. I hate to judge something be fore I've seen it but in this case I have to. I don't understand why people spend money to make movies like this. One of the Guys — PG-13 She's just one of the guys to you and it just doesn't matter what she does. Nobody will notice anyway. What she does do is decide to wear her kid brother's clothes so she can do things with "the guys." The previews make the movie look better than the plot says it can. Stranger things have hap pened. Code of Silence — R It's that time of the year again, gang. Summer inevitably brings a whole slew of "beat them till they die" movies where the punches sound like the sound man is pounding an overstuffed couch with a Ping-Pong paddle. Chuck Norris is the star but if it were up to me I would go see the one with Kurt Thomas (see Gym kata) just for a change of pace. The Company of Wolves — R Another movie about were wolves. As if Michael Jackson's "Thriller" didn't burn us out or anything. I've always enjoyed watching people get eaten by fuzzy-faced dogmen. At least the scene with the wolf coming out of a man's mouth should be graphic enough for anyone. Manor East 823-8300 The Care Bears Movie — G Everyone was happy in the land of the Care Bears. (You remem ber them. The little blue, pink, yellow and green bears who run around greeting strangers?) To- everything happy in life a smid gen of despair must fall and so is the fate of the Care Bears. Evil lurks around each puffy cloud and danger hangs in the air. The Return of the Jedi —PG Actually, it's the return of "The Re turn of the Jedi." It still has all the original thrills and chills of inter- galactic planet-hopping, but you won't have to wait in lines for hours to see it this time. It seems this was re-released to refresh viewers' memories of the actual plot in this never-ending "Star Wars" saga. Stick —PG Burt Reynolds stars in this movie which, incidentally, is three- years old. Need I say more?
