This re sponsibility cannot be taken lightly. It is important that this per son be able to make use of the authority associated with this position. He must make wise decisions and manage his re sponsibilities well. I believe that through my experience in the Corps of Cadets, the Flor iculture-Ornamental Horticul ture Club and Four-H club I have obtained these assets. The main goal of our class should be to decide what our class gift to the University should be before the end of this year. Also I am going to promote the commemorative statues for former Aggies who served in World War II as the gift our class gives to A&M. Joel McKnight 87 president Clay La Grone sophomore building construction I am running for the office of president of the Class of ’87 because I see that the Class of ’87 has the potential to be one of the best classes to go through Texas A&M in a long time, and I feel I can create a positive influence on the class. To be a good president, strong and positive leadership is a must. My experiences in dealing with others and listen ing to all views before making a personal judgement aug ment my leadership qualities. '88 pres Dion Laurent freshman business administration I am running for class presi dent as the incumbent because I hold deep concern for Texas A&M, particularly all aspects of the University pertaining to the Class of ’88. I feel that through my position as presi dent this year, I have gained experiences that few others can possibly claim. From my position, I have learned to work well with oth ers and to effectively correct ujaijsing problems. Most im- portantly though, I have gained confidence about my position, my obligations and the delegation of authority. When speaking of goals, I hold my stance that the obligation of the council, as elected offi cers, is to represent the class in all aspects of college life. I feel that we should not only pro mote active participation in numerous council-organized activities, but also in student affairs, possibly overlapping our goals with those of the sen ate and Student Government. David Redding freshman general studies I am running for the office of president because of the firm beliefs and attitudes that I have developed during my first semester and a half at Texas A&M. These attitudes will help me drive toward a unity that the Class of ’88 has not yet experienced. My qualifications are fairly limited, yet through the deter mination that I have to make the Class of ’88 a strong and ef fective class, I believe I can compensate for lack of experi ence. One of my goals is to im prove n o n - r e g/C o r p s relationships. I believe that compromise on both parts will manifest a sturdy base, on which a strong government can be built.
