MSC council to announce
new officers at meeting
By CATHIE ANDERSON
Staff Writer
The Memorial Student Center
Council will announce the names of
the next MSC Council president and
executive vice presidents during to
night’s meeting at 7:30.
The council has to approve the
nominating committee’s selections in
order to make the selections official.
The nominating committee is a 21-
member committee composed of
people from all aspects of the MSC.
The members include faculty rep
resentatives and senior student lead
ers, who are not seeking the offices.
MSC Council President Pat Wood
says the applicants for the four posi
tions are allowed to put a second
preference in case they don’t get
what they wanted at first.
Iii an earlier interview, Wood said
council members were probably
looking forward to seeing another
person banging the gavel now.
The new president and executive
vice presidents will take over the rest
of the selection process, but Wood
will still be active until April 20.
“I’ll be a lame duck, but I won’t be
too lame,” Wood says.
The committee feels very opti
mistic and good about the selections,
which they made. Wood says.
The MSC master plan, a guide to
future planning for the MSC com
mittees, will be presented by Cory
Courtney, executive vice president
for administration.
Several other topics will be dis
cussed during this meeting includ
ing the 1985-86 budget and some
_ changes in the council’s constitution
and by-laws.
Police use Valentine ruse
in Austin narcotics raid
Associated Press
SAN ANTONIO — Masquerad-
ing x as florists making a Valentine’s
Day delivery, undercover police offi
cers took advantage of the lovers’
holiday to gain entrance into a home
where they arrested two people on
drug-possession charges.
The narcotics agents, who did not
want their names used, said the Val
entine ruse was deployed because
they did not expect the suspects to
let them through the iron-barred
front door otherwise.
A 22-year-old man and a 31 -year-
old woman were arrested.
