The 16-hour seminar will be held for the fifth consecutive year at Texas A&M Friday through Sunday. The fee for the seminar is $40 in ad vance but $45 at the door and in cludes the cost of a workbook. Stevens normally conducts his seminars at a cost of $595, but the Texas A&M seminar is sponsored in part by the Society of Texas A&M Mothers Clubs, the National Agri marketing Association and the So ciety of Entrepreneurship and New Ventures. Ralph Carpenter, assistant direc tor of media relations at A&M, said the seminar teaches people how to better display what they’re trying to sell, which is, in many cases, them selves. Carpenter attended a Stevens seminar put on for the Athletic De partment. John Robison, president of the Society of Entrepreneurship and New Ventures, said that Stevens’ seminar would help students learn to better deal with both peers and bosses. “If you talk to people that make it to the top, half of them will say that they got there because of the way they presented themselves or their ideas, Robison said. Registration will take place in 115 Kleberg Animal and Food Science Center from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, and the seminar begins at 1 p.m. “Students go through at least 132 hours during their college careers, but they never get the kind of train ing that Carl Stevens will give them,” Hesby said. “The sad thing about this (course) is that you (the student) don’t know you need it,” Hesby said. “Students become so interested in getting cred its that they don’t understand the benefits of a seminar that they have to pay for.” Homero Recio, a lecturer in the Department of Animal Sciences, participated in the seminar last year. He said that he uses the Stevens’ for mat for speeches when giving lec tures in animal science classes or speeches across the state. Stevens is “a live wire;” a dynamic individual who presents his material in an interesting and informative manner, Carpenter said. Stevens served 13 years as a pro fessor and a visiting lecturer at col leges and universities throughout the United States. He has also co-au- thored two college textbooks, “Sel ling” and “Agriselling.” r The International Business Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi announces its Spring Rush Activities Jan. 26-Chilidinner. 1 pm. at Waldon Pond Club House.
