If history repeats itself, as it so of
ten does in the SWC cage race, to
night’s showdown in Fort Worth
could go down to the final buzzer —
literally. During last season’s two
meetings between A&M and TCU,
the Ags prevailed twice, but only by
a total of eight points. A&M won the
first encounter 68-62 in G. Rollie
White Coliseum, then had to go into
overtime to down TCU 67-65 in Fort
Worth.
Both TCU and A&M’s lone SWC
victory came at the expense of Jim
Haller’s Baylor Bears. The Frogs
broke a four-game losing streak
against the Bears last Saturday with
a 84-68 win on their home court.
The game will feature some of the
conference’s best outside shooting
threats — A&M’s guards Kenny
Brown (18.4 points per game aver
age), Don Marbury (14.7) and Todd
Holloway (11.4); TCU’s guards Den
nis Nutt (17.5) and Tracy Mitchell
(11-4).
Metcalf, 350-235 in his 22nd year
as head coach of the Aggies, is 30-13
against TCU. Killingsworth, 77-84
in only his 6th season at TCU, is 4-8
against A&M.
