Night shuttle bus service to the
Sterling C. Evans Library and two
new route stops have been added by
bus operations for the spring semes
ter, says Bill Conaway, staff assistant
for bus operations.
The Library Route was added to
alleviate parking problems near the
library at night, Conaway said.
Busses will shuttle passengers
from Parking Annex 54 to Parking
Annex 18, the pick up and drop off
point for the library.
Along the route, the busses will
also pick up passengers in Parking
Annex 55.
Service to the library is from 6
p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through
T hursday and until midnight on Fri
day. Busses leave from the west side
of Parking Annex 54 every 20 min
utes.
The intracampus Agronomy
Road Route will have an additional
stop this semester for the Horticul
ture and Forest Science Building on
Horticulture Road.
The shuttle will stop between the
Medical Sciences Building and the
Horticulture and Forest Science
Building.
Busses on the off-campus Scarlett
O'Hara Route will service Woods
tock Condominiums with an added
stop across from the Sundance
Apartments.

Map of new shuttle bus routes.
Conaway said shuttle service was
discontinued to this location last
year, but has been resumed to re
duce traffic problems and to provide
better service on the route.
Bus operations has turned in a
proposal to discontinue the Express
“ ‘ Field
Route running from Olsen Field to
the Blocker Building and the Engi
neering Research Center. However,
until the proposal is decided upon,
service will continue.
Conaway said low passenger
counts and insufficient demand for
the route prompted the proposal.
He said the same area is served by
the Academic Route.
All additions take ef fect Moi

Kickapoo band
gets land in Texas
Company begins cleanup

EAGLE PASS — A Texas band of primitive Kickapoo Indians has
taken over its own tract of land near the Rio Grande nearly 200 years
after the white man ousted them from 19 million acres in the Great
Lakes region.
The “renegade” Kickapoos planted a live oak tree in the soil of
three states — Wisconsin, the land of their ancestors; Oklahoma, the
land of their wandering brothers; and Texas, the land they now call
home, in a ceremony marking occupation of the 125-acre site down
river f rom Eagle Pass.
Dozens of somber tribe members watched as Bishop Rene Gracida
of the diocese of Corpus Christi delivered the last payment on the
S313,()()() parcel of land 8 miles south of Eagle Pass on Tuesday.
Gracida presented a check for almost $115 thousand from the John
G. and Marie Stella Kenedy Foundation to former land owner Billy La
Quey.
The Kickapoos named their new homeland Nuevo Nacimiento,
Spanish for new birth.
